ELEPHANTWOMAN

Written and Performed by Megan Metrikin

Elephant Woman is a solo show that tells the story of Nomi, a female elder and leader in an elephant herd, which is slowly being hunted down by poachers.

The play explores the humanity of elephants and the elephantness of humans as it challenges us to consider the parts within ourselves that are on the verge of extinction as we continue to ravage and kill.

Growing up in Africa, and observing elephants in their environment, I wrote this piece to raise awareness of their extraordinary emotional intelligence and to meditate on the grief and loss that elephants experience.
